Our flagship program is a long-term project to finance 1000 SMEs under our unique financing “Diamond Risk Spread Financing Model”. The model is designed to mitigate the risk of failure, spread the financing risk and hedge the potential for loss by the funders. The financing program addresses the key challenges faced by the players in the SME financing ecosystem that include financial institutions, SMEs, The Government and operating partners under the program the initial focus areas;
- Agriculture Value Chain Financing – Our primary and flagship financing is towards the agriculture sector that represents more than 70% of our country’s informal employment, contributing more than 11% to our GDP. It also represents the greatest source of income for the poorest of poor. Our funding model is unique, disruptive and adapted to the country’s challenging financing space. The financing covers the complete agriculture value chain eco-system and is supported by technical support from business development experts on full time basis
- Zambia Export Platform - DFA working with its partners is creating an export platform that allows both SMEs and manufacturing companies to access the regional export markets. The e-platform will be supported by effective warehouse facilities that execute the export orders and will be accessible across the country.
- Wholesale and Retail Trade – Wholesale and retail trade represents the single largest contributor to the country’s GDP. DFA supports and incorporates the small-scale trader into the financing value chain that effectively contribute to the country’s economic agenda.
Financial and Business Skills Training
Our Financial and business skills training sessions that are uniquely structured to give entrepreneurs real life solutions to the challenges they face in the business world. We run both tailor made and structured one day trainings for SMEs as well as an open public presentation that is open to the public once every quarter.

Business Incubation - Investment Ready SMEs
DFA is creating a pipeline of investment ready projects, starting from the small-scale producers clustered into our value chain to stand-alone projects. DFA will provide additional support to the projects after funding, hand holding them to reach competitive success. Under this program, DFA works to manage specific programs designed to incubate the development and growth of SMEs. DFA has standing MOU with BDS providers that support effective implementation of the strategy
